Not just a tribute to Kobe,
But also a powerhouse on the court.
First up, the theme for this colorway should be familiar—it debuted with the Kobe 8 Protro "HALO" in 2023.
The "HALO" theme was co-created by Vanessa and Nike, with the vision of releasing a new Kobe sneaker in this pure white colorway every year on Kobe's birthday. This is meant to honor Kobe's legacy and carry forward the enduring Mamba spirit.

Unlike simple retro releases, the Protro versions are designed to infuse classic Kobe sneakers with modern technology.
This is why many NBA players today choose Kobe Protro sneakers for their games.
Both the low-top and high-top versions of the Kobe 9 Elite Protro "HALO" continue to feature the original Elite specifications, including Flyknit upper, Flywire cables, and side carbon plates.

The midsole upgrades from Lunar to Nike React technology, offering enhanced bounce and durability.
This makes the Kobe 9 Protro not only a tribute for fans but also maintains its legacy as a "performance powerhouse" on the court.

The pure, elegant white upper of the HALO edition features subtle, exclusive details.
The heat-pressed sections of the white leather subtly showcase Kobe's Warrior logo pattern, symbolizing purity.

The heel features a design inspired by Kobe's Achilles tendon surgery stitches, which not only symbolizes the Mamba mentality but is also a deeply emotional element of the Kobe 9.
This time, the design is subdued, blending seamlessly with the shoe’s white upper.

The previously flat Swoosh on the shoe’s side has been updated to a three-dimensional design.
The Swoosh also features a holographic effect that adds visual depth and sophistication to the otherwise minimalist aesthetic.

As the first high-top design introduced in the Kobe sneaker series since the Zoom Kobe 3 and Kobe 7 System, the Kobe 9 Elite’s original high-top version was inspired by the boxing shoes Kobe observed during Manny Pacquiao’s training.

On-foot Look:
Versatile Aesthetics and Surprising Comfort
Starting with the more versatile "Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro," the low-top version offers greater flexibility for performance and easier styling for everyday wear.

In terms of comfort, the Kobe 9 Protro manages to retain the performance strengths of the original while addressing its previous shortcomings.
For stability, the side carbon plates and rear TPU insert provide significant support, showcasing the robust design and materials of the original model.
The Protro version features an upgraded React midsole, delivering excellent cushioning, elasticity, and overall balance.
Durability has also improved compared to the original Lunar foam, making this version an ideal choice for those who use their sneakers for intense play.

In terms of weight, the low-top version of the Kobe 9 Protro weighs 387.1 grams per size 42.5, while the high-top version is slightly heavier at 448.6 grams per size 42.5. Both are relatively lightweight for their respective designs.
Regarding sizing, the fit is true to size. The half-length inner bootie combined with the Flyknit upper offers good flexibility. Additionally, the traditional tongue design makes the shoe accommodating for those with slightly wider forefeet and higher insteps.
