The Nike Kobe 5 Protro CNY, set for early next year, has had quite a journey since its initial reveal. The first set of renderings showcased a festive red colorway, featuring a golden python wrapping around the shoe, symbolizing the arrival of "Year of the Mamba", creating a strong Lunar New Year vibe overall.
However, when the actual pair was revealed, the upper shifted from red to an "Eggplant" purple. While it still looks great, it does feel like it lacks that unique Lunar New Year charm.
Unexpectedly, things took a turn! Recently, former NBA star Isaiah Thomas posted, "The red ones coming out are the best," confirming that a red version of "Year of the Mamba" Kobe 5 will indeed be released.
